alphabetcoverIt’s official: I have a dirty mind. On a long bus ride in Italy last summer my mind began overflowing with silly, erotic couplets, and it’s been working overtime ever since. They quickly progressed from tame to torrid (A is for amour; B is for the breast; C is for clitoris) and I realized they wanted to be in a book. So … An Erotic Alphabet will be printed in time for Valentine’s Day; watch this space for information about how to order a copy for your sweetie.

It was only a matter of time: The Hot Flashes 2 cover image is now available as a poster, or on a mug. While these sexy products are not guaranteed to fulfill your wholesome hankering for everything hot and steamy, warm and juicy, fragrant and tasty … they just might help! Visit our intimate little online shop for a quick look. We’re sure you’ll enjoy having this version of Hot Flashes around, so order a mug for yourself, and one for a friend, too.

You’ve gotta love the Swedes! I flew on SAS last month, and saw this quickie in Scanorama, their inflight magazine:

“You wouldn’t associate good ol’ Apoteket, Sweden’s state-owned pharmacy chain, with lust and passion, but rather with quite straightforward health products and serious staff clad in white coats. But that is about to change. From now on, you can buy dildos, Geisha balls, clitoris vibrators and other designed sexy toys there; ’some of the best products available,’ Apoteket claims.”

Gör det sköna skönare!

“As we read the papers and listen to the news lately, we’ve come to the conclusion that what this world needs is a lot more love.”

—Linda Watanabe McFerrin and Laurie McAndish King

WRITING SEXY STUFF

If you’ve ever had trouble steaming up the page, this is the workshop for you. Spend a day with poet, travel writer and novelist Linda Watanabe McFerrin loosening up and learning the techniques to add a spicy, sensual, and sometimes funny sizzle to your literary work. The class is full of quick free-writes and entertaining exercises that will have you moving from comfort to erogenous zones in no time. Linda’s workshops have been a starting point for many successful writers. She’s the founder of Left Coast Writers and co-editor, along with Laurie McAndish King, of the Hot Flashes: Sexy Little Stories and Poems series. This is Linda’s favorite workshop … it’s a celebration of sorts and it ends with a glass of champagne.

Linda is the perfect teacher for this class and topic. She treated us with enormous dignity while maintaining her brilliant sense of irreverence.

Three pages filled with sizzling, sensual, show-stopping stories and ideas for stories. The champagne. The show and tell. The chocolate cake. Perfection itself!
–La Volpina Furba a.k.a The Roguish Vixen a.k.a Arlene del Orbe

Outgoing, bubbly and fun. It helped remind me of the utter joy of writing.
–Lynn Weiss

This was a wonderful experience: a class of women and me, talking erotica. Are you kidding? For a writer, a male writer, a beautiful experience.
–Mark Haggarty

Brilliant and fun!! Incredibly helpful. I wished we had more time!
–Pamela Weymouth

We’re at it again! We’re looking for short (1200 words or less) erotic fiction, nonfiction and poetry for the next anthology in the Hot Flashes series, to be published in 2009. Submission deadline: March 1, 2008.

We are not interested in gratuitous sex. We want the erotic framed in a way that is fascinating, entertaining, enlightening, surprising. We want fine writing.

Think: appetite, humor, action, romance, food, travel, nature, personality, nostalgia, culture and counter-culture, mind, body and so on, and add your erotic spin.

Please mail hard copy of your submission, along with a short bio, to:
Hot Flashes 3
Left Coast Writers
484 Lake Park Avenue, #29
Oakland, CA 94610

If your work is selected for publication, we will request a Word RTF (rich text format) document via e-mail or on disk.
