Born in Louisiana, Ann Garrett grew up in Texas. She wrote poetry and short stories throughout her childhood, but eventually traded in her pen for a test tube and a master’s in biology from the University of Texas. After moving to the San Francisco Bay Area, she worked as a research biologist. Now retired, Ann has recently resumed writing. She lives in Marin County with her teenage son and their two cats.
